Mike Kubic
President & Principal Consultant
Mike Kubic is the President and Principal Consultant of Kubic Engineering & Design. Mike brings over 30 years of experience in strategic product development, technology innovation, engineering and operations management, and enterprise leadership, along with specific technical expertise in the design and manufacturing of complex electromechanical systems. Throughout his career, Mike has influenced numerous leading-edge technology developments and manufacturing operations in electric vehicles, power and energy systems, wireless communications, and aerospace and defense.
In addition, Mike is also currently the CEO and Chief Product & Technology Architect of Advanced Rotational Dynamics (ARD), a sister company to KE&D. Mike cofounded ARD in partnership with his long-time associate, Rudy Garriga, to develop the next generation of high-performance, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective electric drive systems for vehicles, as well as to offer their decades of deep subject-matter expertise in electric machines, power electronics, software controls, and system integration to the global vehicle electrification market.
Prior to founding ARD, Mike was the Chief Technology Officer of Clean Wave Technologies, another company that he cofounded with Rudy Garriga in 2008. As innovators and entrepreneurs who met while working together in the early days at Tesla Motors, they recognized the opportunity to create a disruptive technology for the emerging vehicle electrification market by focusing on increasing the performance of electric drive systems without the use of rare-earth materials. Through their work at Clean Wave, Mike and Rudy pioneered the development of advanced AC Induction machines, power electronics, and control systems for electric and hybrid electric vehicles, brought a portfolio of industry leading electric drive system products to market, and coauthored over 30 patents for the technology.
Previously, as mentioned, Mike was a consultant to Tesla Motors for the development and manufacturing of the original electric drive system for Tesla’s first vehicle, the Tesla Roadster, a high-performance electric-powered sports car.
Additionally, Mike brings along a broad industry background, having held a variety of leadership roles in engineering, operations, and business management at Accelewave Wireless Solutions, Remec Wireless Systems, and Spectrian Corporation, working in the development and manufacturing of innovative high-power RF electronic systems for commercial wireless telecommunications networks. Mike spent the early part of his career working in diverse engineering and product development roles at TRW Space and Electronics Group and Rantec Electronic Systems, supporting the aerospace and defense industries with the development and integration of advanced high-power RF antenna electronics and test systems.
Mike holds a MSME from Stanford University and a BSCE from Carnegie Mellon University.
